Overview
Boca de Tomates is the northernmost beach in Puerto Vallarta, located right next to the mouth of the Ameca River. It is famous among locals for its 'Ramadas'—rustic beachfront restaurants serving traditional Pescado Zarandeado. While the water is often unsuitable for swimming due to the proximity of the river and the presence of crocodiles, it is a fantastic spot for bird watching, watching planes land, and experiencing an authentic, non-touristy side of Vallarta.
Highlights
- Authentic Pescado Zarandeado (grilled fish)
- Great for airplane spotting near the airport
- Home to a sea turtle conservation camp
